Lifestyle Trends, Wearables and Sustainability

Another CES has come and gone. Latest attendee numbers were estimated at over 170,000 techies and  about 4,500 exhibitors across 2.9 million square feet of space. For us locals, that means traffic jams within a 1 mile radius of Paradise, Nevada and additional time to get to our destination outside of the Strip area for at least 5 days. If you live on the strip or by the strip, convention and tourist traffic are the norm. We get used to it, but not so good for the air quality, is it?  CES brings so many new, exciting and innovative brands to the tradeshow floor.  For 50+ years, it has been the world’s gathering place for all those who thrive on the business of consumer technologies.

I’m even more excited to see the rise of sustainable and eco-friendly tech products on the show floor and seeing next-generation innovations.  However, one of the many problems on the tradeshow floor is the amount of waste that is left behind after each show.  As part of our commitment to corporate responsibility, Plus Studios has taken the steps to educate and reduce waste by increasing the use of materials that can be Reusable and Recycled.  We hope to influence not only the exhibitors at CES, but other shows to take the initiative and make a step towards a more sustainable tradeshow. Here are simple green initiatives taken from one of our workshops that exhibitors can easily implement:

  1. Reusable:  Exhibit Hybrid Rentals. Hybrids are not only cost-efficient but also lowers carbon footprint.
  2. Reduce:  Giveaways. Take note of the promotional items used at tradeshows.
    1. Are your giveaway materials environmentally friendly?
    2. Have you thought about eco-friendly staff shirts or company uniforms?
    3. Do you provide company water bottles for the staff?
  3. Recycle:  Donate and reduce waste on the tradeshow floor.  Schedule in advance for complimentary pick up of unwanted items at the end of your trade events.

Creating sustainable products that will help improve lives and conserve the environment at the same time is incredible and commendable. Every effort counts towards a sustainable lifestyle. So many to choose from, but here are my favorite CES 2020 Innovation Award winners:

Approximately 9500 deaths of older Americans are associated with falls each year. Falls are the leading cause of death from injury among people 65 and older. It detects the user’s symptoms for fall in advance, by accurately analyzing the walking pattern. Learn more at https://www.weltcorp.com/
